These terms govern your use of the Ambysto Gate app ("Gate") and the purchase of a Gate Pro license from Ambysto Technologies LLC ("Ambysto", "we", "us"), a limited liability company organized under the laws of Wyoming, United States, with its registered office at 1021 E Lincolnway #10890, Cheyenne, WY 82001. They apply together with the Ambysto Terms of Service, which cover all our products; where this page is more specific about Gate, this page applies. By installing, buying or using Gate, you agree to these terms.

1. Who may use Gate

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. If you use Gate on behalf of a company or other organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these terms on its behalf.

2. What Gate is

Gate is a desktop app for macOS, part of the Ambysto Pro Suite. It shows which app on your Mac connects to which destination and lets you allow or block outgoing connections per app. It runs on your own computer and has a free version. Pro features are unlocked with a license key that you buy once, for Gate alone or for the whole suite. The features in Free and Pro are described on this website at the time of purchase.

3. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Gate. You may use the free version at no cost. A Pro license key unlocks the Pro features of the apps it lists, within the use limits described on this website or at checkout.

You may not share, resell or publish your license key, or attempt to bypass the license check.

4. Your rules and your network

Gate changes how your Mac's network behaves only through the rules, lists and modes you choose or accept. Blocking a connection can stop an app, or a feature of it, from working; that is the purpose of a block. You are responsible for reviewing a rule before you make it, and Gate keeps every change in its journal so you can undo it.

• Gate filters outgoing connections only. Some macOS traffic never reaches third-party filters, so Gate cannot guarantee that every connection is seen or blocked.
• When Gate cannot decide safely, it lets the connection through and tells you.
• Gate is not a security scanner and does not inspect what your apps send.
• Use Gate only on computers you own or are authorized to manage.

5. Outside look-ups

Look-ups of your public address and of public lists are off by default and run only when you press their button. Results come from the named third-party services, may be wrong or out of date, and are what each service reports, not a finding by Ambysto. You decide what to do with a result, and you are responsible for your use of the look-ups and for following each service's terms.

6. Price and payment

A Gate Pro license is a one-time purchase at the price shown at checkout. It does not renew, and you are not charged again for it. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any applicable taxes, which are added where required. Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.

7. Acceptable use

You may not use Gate to break any law or infringe anyone's rights, to disrupt, probe or gain unauthorized access to systems you are not authorized to manage, or to resell or sublicense Gate without our written permission.

8. Updates and changes

Gate checks the Ambysto release feed and offers updates; it never installs one without you. We may update or improve features over time. If an app update removes a material Pro feature, you may keep using the version you already have, or request a full refund of that Pro license within 30 days of the update.

9. Disclaimers

Except as expressly stated in these terms, Gate is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that Gate will block or allow any particular connection, or that it will work with every app, network or version of macOS.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ambysto will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to Gate is limited to the amount you paid us for Gate in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

11. Termination

You may stop using Gate at any time; uninstalling it removes the app, its filter and its data from your Mac. We may cancel a license key if you materially breach these terms or the payment for it is reversed.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Laramie County, Wyoming.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and, for material changes, notify customers by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
